Description: Perennial; culms 15 - 120 cm tall, usually slender, often rooting at lower nodes and geniculately ascending, or even sprawling. Leaf blades flat, 8 - 30 cm X 3 - 8 mm. False panicle 5 - 30 cm long, composed of glomerate clusters of 2 - 8 racemes enfolded by spatheoles and spathes; racemes containing 2 fertile spikelets.
