Large armed shrubs or small trees, 3-6 m high; young branches fulvous tomentose; stipular spines solitary. Leaves 5-10.5 x 4-6 cm, oblique at base. Inflorescences axillary, sessile cymes or terminal panicles, up to 30 cm long. Flowers yellowish- green, 4-5 mm across; petals 0. Drupes pyriform to globose, 6-12 x 9-10 mm in diameter, flesht, white when ripe. Seeds 2 (-1), black.
