A large tree with thin, rough grey bark. Leaves on very short petioles, up to 10 cm, broadly ovate to oval, tapering at the base, acuminate and often drawn out into a drip tip, entie, glabrous, stiff, bright green, dotted with black beneath. Flowers few, in scanty erect axillary cymes half as long as the leaves. Fruit pyriform, red.
