| Description: |
Densely branched shrub to 2.5 m tall, armed with sharp spines to 2.5 cm long solitary in axils. Leaves ovate to ovate -lanceolate or elliptic, the petiole 3.6 mm long, thick, glabrous, blades mostly 4-12 cm long, 2-6 cm wide, margins entire, upper surface very dark dull green, lower surface pale or yellowish green. Inflorescence axillary, short, cymose or racemose, pedicels 2-3 mm long. Calyx saucer-shaped, sepals 4, petals 4 (rarely 3 or 5), white. Stamens usually 8, free. Ovary sessile, 2.5-3 mm long including stigma. Fruit subglobose, with very few vesicles, 2-4 seeds.
