Perennial herb. Leaves opposite, (2.5 -) 5 - 14 X (0.8 -) 1 - 3.5 (-5.5) cm. obovate, unequal at base, apex rounded, entire or occasionally minutely serrulate, glabrous, shortly petiolate. Flowers in small, stalked heads, in axillary or terminal cymes. Involucres campanulate or subcampnulate. Capsule small, c. 1 mm diameter, slightly rough, lobes bluntly keeled. Seeds wrinkled.
