| Description: |
Moderate to large-sized tree. Twigs with conspicuous leaf-scars, young parts with dark brown scales. Leaves crowded near the apex of the stem, stalk about 1 cm long; blade rather coriaceous, elliptic - oblong with base gradually rounded or slightly retuse; size very different, 10 - 20 cm long, 3 - 9 cm broad, strongly reduced near the infloresence??? upper surface drying darker brown, more shining than the lower. Inflorescence axillary, spicate, peduncle 2 - 3 cm. calyx lobes triangular, persistent around the young fruit. Corolla lobes tongue-shaped. Stamens shorter than the petals, rather long-persistent, visible around the young fruits. Fruit about 1.5 cm long, apiculate, pulpy, purple.
