Medium to large- sized tree 8-30 m hight, leaves oblong- lanceolate, 10-32 X 2-12 cm; lateral leaves 12-25, Veins prominent on lower face, tertiary nerves and veins reticulate. Young leaves pendulous, purplish. Panicles 6-40 cm, in general hairy. Stalks 2-4 mm. sepals ovoid- oblong, hairy, 2-3 mm. petals ovoid-oblong,c.3-5 mm, white, later get tinged with purple, with yellow or purple veins. Fertile stamens as long as the corolla. Staminodes very short. Fruits ovoid to ellipsoid, with oblique base, 10-20 cm long.
