Description: Shrubs or small trees, to about 5 or 6 m tall; stems and leaf axes glabrous; stipules about 2 mm long; leaves with rachis about (10-)20-30(-40) cm long; pinnae (3-)5-10 pairs, each pinna with about 6-10(-13) pairs of leaflets; leaflets 1-2(-3.5) cm long. Inflorescences glabrous, racemose, to about 20-50 cm long; flowers on pedicels (4-)5-8(-10) cm long, flame-red but sometimes yellow or orange; ; fruit dehiscent, glabrous, short stipate, about 6-12) cm long, 1.5-2 cm wide, 8-10 seeded; seeds dark brown or black, 8-10 mm long, 6-8 mm wide.
