Large tree, -30 m tall. Twigs terete, pale cream-brown. Young leaf bright crimson; lamina 9-17 x 4.5-7 cm, drying lustrous dark chocolate-brown beneath. Cymes -8 cm long with many small flowers; petals small. Fruit -12 mm diameter, subglobose, 1-2 seeded, about 3 mm diameter.
