Description: Erect or ascending or partly prostrate shrubs, stems emitting slender prop-roots up to 40 x 1.5 cm. Stems pale-greyish-tan, annulate by leafscars about 1-1.5 cm apart, main trunk reaching 2-3 m in length, up to about 6 cm in width. Leafy branches 1.5-4 cm diameter, leafscars 1.5-4 mm apart. Leaves generally curved, mostly 60-120 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide; prickles at the base of the leaf 3-5 mm long; greenish-white.
